Morrison's two victories over Kustaa Pihlajamaki,of a total of 6 straight at the games, distinguishes him as the only competitor in freestyle wrestling at those games to defeat a defending champion.Morrison was the only american to capture a gold medal in wrestling at the 1928 Olympic Games. Pihlajamaki was one of supreme breed of athlete, a wrestler who achieved 2 olympic golds and 1 silver, over the course of his career:the silver being the result of his loss to Allie Morrison.
Olympic champions are the official World Wrestling Champions in an Olympic Games Year, as, by the 1921 agreement IOC- FILA, no other World Championship takes place during such a year.
Morrison also captured 3 successive United States AAU, National Wrestling Championships, and had an almost perfect career record with merely 1 contest loss.
After these 4 supreme victories, Morrison was forced to retire whilst a reigning triple United States,World & Olympic Champion in 1929 due to broken vertebra. His incredibly victorious career came to an glorious end.
