The club was founded in 2004 by Corrado Correggi
, (a local businessman who amassed a fortune making corks for fine wine), in partnership with his Scottish brother-in-law, John McGovern. Both men are also successful football agents. The club was once briefly managed by legendary former English

In their first official season (2004/2005), they achieved a promotion from the Regional League 2nd Division (Sotavento) to the 1st Division.
In their second season (2005/2006), the original plan for a rapid rise to the main National Football competition, the Portuguese Liga
, was derailed having only achieved a modest 12th place in the 2nd Regional Division.
In their third and final season (2006/2007), after participating in some games, they were disqualified after some canceled games and failure to pay some fines to the Regional Football Association. they are not scheduled to appear in any official competition.
