Alexander de Rohan is the former heir apparent
and a prominent member of the Swiss scion of the House of Rohan.
He received education at the California Institute of Technology
and is currently a resident of the United Kingdom where he studies at the University College London
. He is active in charity work and is a notable member of the Critical Human Rights Mouvement
in Zürich. Alexander de Rohan was born with dual Czech and Swiss citizenship. He officially gave up his Swiss passport in February 2010 as a part of abdication

In April 2009, he has been noted to personally fund and help in the province L'Aquila after the 2009 L'Aquila earthquake

In February 2010, Alexander de Rohan officially abdicated on the position of the heir apparent stirring a wide interest in the family in the Swiss media. The abdication was announced for personal reasons and marked ante nupte, meaning that the material heritage will no longer be carried in the blood line. The new heir apparent of the family is Christiann William de Rohan.
Despite the abdication, Alexander remains a prominent member of the family and "has an integral role to the family financial interests and operations".
