In the city the population was spread out with 34.1% under the age of 18, 8.5% from 18 to 24, 41.5% from 25 to 44, 10.8% from 45 to 64, and 5.1% who were 65 years of age or older. There is also a private Catholic School for grades K-7 (with 8th grade to be added in 2012) in St. Michael.
The district's new high school cost about $77 million to construct and has currently the largest Performing Arts Center in the state of Minnesota, which can hold 1,450.
