The first time Indian public and media will be able to see the submarine will be in January 2009, when the government will take out of the dockyards for a "ride", though the tests will commence much later. Recent reports suggest that the launch is postponed to mid 2009 due to some delays. During Aero-India 2009, the Defense minister of India, A.K Anthony said that the submarine is in the final stages of completion.
