The school's motto is "Nid da lle gellir gwell" (not good when capable of better).

The current headmistress is Mrs. Heather Lewis, who was appointed in 2009. Formerly a pupil and former Deputy Head at Ysgol Gyfun Gymraeg Bro Myrddin, Carmarthen in September 2009.

The school also has a successful rugby team which competes in the Rosslyn Park National School Sevens annually. They were runners up to Millfield School in 2003. The school lost in the semi final the National Urdd Sevens Tournament in 2010. The schools year 8 team also came second in the Urdd Sevens 2011 after narrowly losing to Amman Valley School in the final.
