In 2009 there were nearly 950 pupils on the school roll. The sixth form has a 98% pass rate at A Level.

History

The school was founded in 1575 and was housed in one of the church's outbuildings. The comprehensive seen today was formed in 1967 by amalgamating the existing Ruabon Boys' Grammar School

 and the Ruabon Girls' Grammar School. The school is now housed in the buildings of the former girls' grammar school. The site of the former boys' grammar school has been redeveloped for housing with the original buildings being conserved and the name was thought up by a pupil of the school

The school underwent a major building project in 2003 which included a state of the art library and a huge new sports centre; it was opened by ex-pupil Mark Hughes
