(known as Alpha at that time). Its prominence in Alpha was due to editor John Buckeridge

, who had joined the Alpha team in 1989. By 1992 he had developed it into a small bi-monthly black and white title and soon had a wide readership consisting largely of youth leaders; by 1996 it was being printed monthly.

John Buckeridge was active in the organisation of Brainstormers, a weekend conference aimed at youth leaders. The event would continue for a further seven years and, as a result of its success, the Youthwork partnership was formed with Spring Harvest
