 that is totally surrounded by hills. According to local tradition, Mr. J.J. Murphy (known as JJ to his friends and Murphy Sayippu to the people) named the place, which was to be his home until death in 1957, after his mother and the local river. Yendayar is a combination of ‘yen’ (my) ‘thai’ (mother) and ‘ar’ (river). Murphy had come 103 years ago to the place which was a thick forest and had no name or people then. He had traveled a long way to reach there. There he established India’s first successful rubber plantation. He brought workers from near and far – Kerala, Tamil Nadu

Badriyya Jum'a Masjid

This Masjid is situated in the central part of the beautiful village Yendayar. This is established in 1965. Due to the increase in the number of members, old and small building of Masjid is recunstructed. Reconstruction started in 21 August 1995 and completed By 30 August 1997. The inauguration of the new Masjid Building is done By Sayyad IBRAHEEMUL KHALEEL AL BUKHARI.

The architecture of building is very beautiful and that gives a touching look to this Masjid. There ar more than 200 Muslim families residing in this small village. People of different religion and cast lives here with amity, love and Co-operation. It is the gracefulness of this beautiful village.

There is another place named "Kolahalamadu" which is a famous calm and quiet place and famous for pilgrimage, coming under the Administrative Committee of Badariyya Jum'a Masjid. It is believed that a Specially person (Valiyy) SHAIKH FAREEDUDHEEN (R) reached here and selected this place for his lonely prayer. Recently "Kolahalamadu" got a place in the tourist area and thus Kolahalamadu is now developing.
