 also have stores operating here. The centre contains 284 specialty stores and over 5,500 car parking spaces. Other features include a large food court, Brisbane City Council Library, a town square, and Hotel Carindale. It was the first centre in Queensland to have 2 Major Department Stores in the one centre. After the 1999 renovation, part of this carpetting and skylights were removed due to maintenance and economical issues.

Carindale Interchange is a major transport hub for the area, providing access to three major universities, the Redland Shire and the Brisbane CBD. The proposed future Eastern Busway

will provide extra and more efficient public transport.

Redevelopment

Westfield Carindale has just embarked upon a $300 million redevelopment with the addition of approximately 22,000 sqm of retail to be added to the centre. The project will add over 120 new retail tenancies in a new 2 level parallel mall, a new full-line Coles Supermarket and a larger relocated Target Department Store.

The new development will feature a strong focus on Australian and International fashion designers and retailers. Other features include a new Brisbane City Council Library, a new restaurant precinct and an improved car park management system which includes a parking guidance system.

The project commenced in October 2010 and will be complete late 2012.
