in grades 9-12. West Campus used to be a satellite school of nearby Hiram Johnson but became its own school for the 2002-2003 school year. The class of 2006 was the first class to graduate from West Campus having spent all four years at the school.
There was talk of West Campus changing its mascot due to the controversy it created. The original name, "Warriors", had caused some unrest because some believed it was offensive to Native-Americans.
However, it seems now that the school has decided to keep their title as the "Warriors".

West Campus has an API score of 871 and has a state ranking of 10. On April 18, 2007 West Campus High School received the California Distinguished School Award.

The current principal is Greg Thomas, who was the former vice principal of John F. Kennedy High School. As of June 2009, Randy Gish retired and did not return to West Campus for the 2009-2010 school year.

Freshmen class of 2012 color: Yellow. When the class of 2012 becomes Sophomores they will have red as their class color for the next 3 years, since the Red seniors graduated.)

Athletics

West Campus High School currently has many athletic departments, and has been able to expand the programs over the years. Current athletics at West Campus are Football, Men's Golf, Soccer, Women's Soccer, Basketball, Swimming, Cross Country, Baseball, Softball, Volleyball, Wrestling, and Tennis. Cheerleading is not considered a sport but West Campus does offer that as well.

The Men's Varsity Golf Team is the most recent addition to the athletics department of West Campus, but have advanced in their division continuously although being the smallest school in the league.

The Women's Volleyball team has won the Capital Valley League title for the 2006/2007 and 2007/2008 school years.

). Currently, the marching band, colorguard, and drumline have all have at least 1 first place trophy in both fall marching season, and winter season. Music-related classes are taught by John Ousley. November 6, 2010 the marching band won 1st place at Cal Hi.

Theater/Drama

The so called Drama Club is not just a simple club where students learn about drama. It is actually the theater class that produces plays and musicals throughout the year. During the school year of 2009-2010, the club came to be part of the after school program called ASSETs. With a small budget, and a random abandoned class, the student actors were able to revolutionize the way the student body viewed Drama. They first started with a play called The Miracle Worker which was really loved by everyone who watched it. However, the most impressive production that the West Campus actors created was on their musical. The award winning production of Rent: School Edition by Jonathan Larson was the biggest drama production, by far, that West Campus has ever seen. The show had only 1 cast, very different to their past productions considering they would have 2, and for the first time, there were 6 performances that completely sold out. Not only did the production receive great comments and critics, but it has also received 7 Elly Award nominations including Best Overall Musical Production in the High School category; a huge success for the West Campus High School Drama Club. Student nominees include Angel Rodriguez, Maddy Bowman, Ryan Engstrom, and Jessica Kersten.
