Plot

The documentary asserts that for nearly fifty years, airline passengers and crews have been supplied with unfiltered air to breathe taken directly from the engines, and shares how certain political advocacy groups have alleged that this air supply sometimes becomes contaminated with neurotoxins, carcinogens and other hazardous chemicals. The film investigates the supposed cover-up as well as alleged consequences for any passengers and crew that might have been exposed to such contaminates.

GCAQE and Tristan Loraine

The film was used by the political advocacy group GCAQE in promoting allegations of a cover-up as a reason to call for a public inquiry in March 2008. Former British Airways Captain Tristan Loraine, the producer of the film, is co-chair of the GCAQE group. Captain Loraine had his Class 1 aviation medical suspended by the UK Civil Aviation Authority, in late 2006, after the CAA had reviewed over a dozen medical reports that all stated that Captain Loraine's health had been adversely affected from exposure to contaminated air onboard jet aircraft.

Contrary Opinions

Ongoing research by the UK government has not found a link to long term health problems. The UK Parliament Select Committee on Science and Technology concludes that the concerns about significant risk to the health of airline passengers and crew are not substantiated.

, there have been no peer-reviewed recorded cases of neurological harm in humans following low-level exposure to the organophosphate tricresyl phosphate (TCP), which is used as a lubricant in jet engines.

According to Dr. S. Michaelis, Head of Research for the Global Cabin Air Quality Executive (GCAQE), doctors and consultants are reporting crew and passenger ill health as a consequence of exposure to contaminated air onboard commercial jet aircraft.
