The single was written about The Wasted Little DJs, known as Karlene and Charlene. Both are hairdressers in Dundee. Karlene is the sister of Kieren Webster, The View's bassist and Charlene was Websters girlfriend.

On the artwork for the single the title was given as "Wasted Little DJ's" which is grammatically incorrect. However, by the time the album was released, the mistaken apostrophe had been dropped and the track is listed as "Wasted Little DJs" by the label.
