Iglesias started his football career in Argentina with El Expreso de El Trebol. Iglesias was transferred to Atletico de Madrid and he was a part of the U21 team of Atletico. He played 3 years in Spain.

AEL F.C. signs Iglesias

On August 2007, Larissa bought 50% of Iglesias' playing rights from Atletico de Madrid. In the first months of season 2007-2008, he was a reserve. But his improvement was very big and he become a very useful midfielder for Larissa. The next season (2008–2009) was the best of Iglesias with Larissa's shirt. He had excellent performance and he was one of the best central midfielders in Greek Super League.

Two bad seasons

Olympiacos was interested for Iglesias, after this season. He finally stayed in Larissa's squad. In 2009-2010, he had some injuries and he lost his position at the starting-11. The next season (2010-2011) was very bad for AEL F.C., because the team was relegated, but he tried to help his team.

AEK Athens want Iglesias

Another one big Greek team, after Olympiacos in 2009, was interested for Matias Iglesias. AEK Athens is searching for a central-midfielder and the Argentinian player is a target.
