On October 19, 2010 the station changed is call letters from WMJC to WIGX. There had been specualtion that these new calls could be a sign of WMJC flipping to "Gen X Radio".

On November 5, 2010, WIGX switched its format to a "Gen X hits" format focusing on hit music from the years 1985 thru 2005.
