market. The station is owned by LeSEA
Broadcasting, also known as World Harvest Broadcasting, an organization founded by Assembly of God
minister Lester Sumrall
(1913–1996), whose sons are still active with the ministry. The first two letters of its callsign stand for "World Harvest" and it is the flagship station for the World Harvest network. WHME-TV broadcasts in digital on UHF channel 48. It also has three repeater stations serving the Chicago
market: WHNW-LD channel 18 in Gary

By 1978, on weekdays, the station ran cartoons from 7 to 9 a.m. They ran Christian programs like PTL Club, 700 Club, and locally produced Christian programs from 9 a.m. to about 1 p.m. The secular general entertainment ran from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m. Then after 7 p.m., WHME repeated PTL and 700 Clubs, locally produced Christian programming, and ran repeats of some of the Sunday religious shows. Saturdays consisted of children's Christian shows till 9 a.m., a blend of secular cartoons and sitcoms until noon or 1 p.m., and some other family friendly programming until 5 p.m. Christian programming continued after 6 p.m. Saturday nights and Sundays was wall to wall Christian programming including Jerry Fawell, Jimmy Swaggart

, Catholic Mass from Notre Dame, among others. The station began 24 hour operation by 1980.
In the early 1980s, WHME cut back the secular shows to the 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. timeslots on weekdays. By the mid 1980's, the morning cartoons returned and at that point it started running more recent children's cartoons like The Disney Afternoon
, Scooby Doo, Inspector Gadget
, and others on weekdays. By the early 1990s, more 70's and 80's sitcoms such as Happy Days
, Laverne and Shirley, Family Ties
, and others moved onto the schedule. In 1995, WHME added Kids' WB
to the afternoon lineup but declined to take The WB
network. In the early 2000s, WHME moved away from cartoons and replaced them with more sitcoms and drama shows, while the entire WB schedule eventually found carriage on WMWB-LP. Today, WHME continues to run a blend of classic shows in the afternoon timeslot.
Channel 46 in South Bend was previously home to independent station
WMSH-TV, which was on briefly from July 1974 to April 6, 1976. The station at the time was co-owned with WMSH AM 960 and WMSH-FM 99.3 in Sturgis, Michigan

Channel 46 was also the original home of WNDU-TV
, which signed on July 15, 1955, but moved to its present channel 16 in 1957.

college games, such as Bethel and Grace. The sports director of WHME is Chuck Freeby, who has worked as a sports anchor at WNDU-TV. It is also an affiliate of the Ball State Sports Network.

World Harvest Television
After the digital transition on June 12, 2009, WHME-TV continued to operate on its pre-transition allotment on channel 48. On March 8, 2011, WHME-TV received a construction permit to move its digital operations to its former analog allotment on channel 46, due to interference with WBME-TV in Racine, Wisconsin
(which transmits from Milwaukee), a station also on channel 48, with both stations having signal conflicts on the edges of their markets areas. No word on when the channel change will commence. This will be the second full-power station in the market to use its original channel after WSBT-TV
moved back to channel 22 after the digital transition.
