is usually attached to a garment, whereas the usekh is a wide collar-shaped piece of jewellery draped around and supported by the neck and shoulders and without holes which would expose the skin underneath. It is almost a piece of clothing in its own right.

Usekh often contained precious stones and amulets, and were connected with clasps of gold.
