    (T7920, 23W) - The largest and most intense tropical cyclone ever recorded in the world. Peaked as a Category 5 with winds of 190 mph (305 km/h) and a pressure of 870 mb. Tip later weakened to a Category 1 Typhoon before striking Japan in October 1979, causing the deaths of nearly 100 people.
  • 1983's Typhoon Tip (T8302, 02W, Auring) - Formed near the Philippines and hit China as a tropical storm, causing minor damage.
  • 1986's Typhoon Tip (T8612, 10W) - A Category 1 typhoon that remained well at sea.
  • 1989's Tropical Storm Tip (T8920, 23W) - A minimal Tropical Storm that remained well out at sea in September 1989.
