Simmonds and Emmerson made their first promo, a seven-minute animation for "Black Dollar Bills" by British rock band Hope Of The States

. This video was selected for Antenna (a series of screenings of underground music videos) at the National Film Theatre in London; it was also play-listed on MTV2

. Following the success of this job, Simmonds and Emmerson registered as Type2error Ltd. in May 2003.

 throughout the first two years of their career; they played their custom live projections on stage with the band. Later, they decided to stop touring to concentrate on their showreel and portfolio. However, they continued to work on many of the band’s videos and all of their sleeve artwork, as well as art directing their website before the band split in August 2006.

They joined London based production company Godman in November 2003. Before leaving in May 2006, they worked on twenty three music videos for clients such as Sony BMG, EMI

s for TBWA Dublin which won a gold SHARK at the Irish Advertising Awards in 2005. They also made an animated TV commercial for DDB London . They made the title sequences for comedy series Look Around You

 (BBC 2) as well as a handful of private short films.

Siimonds and Emmerson were shortlisted for best new director at the 2003 CAD awards and nominated for best director the following year. In January 2005, they featured as part of the Halloween Short Film Festival at the ICA in London, presenting a 60 minute retrospective of their promos, short films and other self-initiated projects to two sell-out cinema showings; they also curated the live music that night. They were guests at the Reading and Leeds Festivals

After leaving Godman they started working with the recently opened UK offices of American production company, Crossroads Films.
