Mission

Twiggs Academy strives to provide a safe and orderly climate for learning and for challenging each student to achieve maximum potential through an educational program that promotes excellence and places Christ at the center of all.

Philosophy

Twiggs Academy believes that the Christian education is based on the belief that mankind finds spiritual salvation and fulfilment in a personal relationship with Jesus Christ (Ephesians 1:7). Children are viewed as individuals created by God with unique abilities and capabilities. Twiggs Academy and parents partner together to educate children as total persons spiritually, intellectually, socially, physically, and culturally.

History

Twiggs Academy was established in 1970 by a group of Twiggs County parents who believed that the Middle Georgia area needed an independent college preparatory school.

Today Twiggs Academy is a nondenominational Christian School

. Twiggs Academy admits students of any race, color, national and ethnic origin to all the rights, privileges, programs, and activities generally accorded or made available to students at the school. It does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, national and ethnic origin in administration of its education policies, admission policies, scholarship and loan programs, and athletic and other school administered programs.

A large gymnasium, a modern media center and science lab, a library, baseball, softball, and football fields, and a cafeteria are located on the Twiggs Academy Campus.

Athletics

Twiggs Academy competes in Baseball, Men's and Women's Basketball, Football, Softball, Track, Golf, and Tennis. Twiggs Academy participates in the Georgia Independent School Association (GISA), and the Independent Christian Schools of Georgia and Alabama (ICSGA). The Trojans are a member of GISA Region 2 A.

Twiggs Academy has won 6 State Championships:

- 1980-1981 Men's Basketball. Class A.

- 1981-1982 Women's Basketball. Class A.

- 1993-1994 Softball. Class AA.

- 1995-1996 Softball. Class AA.

- 1996-1997 Softball. Class AA.

- 2001-2002 Women's Basketball. Class AA.

Football

Although Twiggs Academy competes in GISA in all other sports, the Trojans play football in the Independent Christian Schools of Georgia and Alabama; a Christian league consisting of teams from Georgia, Florida and
Alabama.

Previously Twiggs Academy played football in GISA. The Trojans fell to Eagle's Landing Christian Academy in the 1996 - 1997 GISA State Championship Game.

Rivalry

Historically, Twiggs Academy's biggest rivalries were with Trinity Christian School and Cross Keys Christian School. In the mid-90s TA also had rivalries Flint River Academy and Fullington Academy.

One Act Play

Twiggs Academy competes in GISA one act play and won the event in its region in 2009.

Twiggs Academy won state in one act play in 2010.

Campus

A large gymnasium, a modern media center and science lab, a library, baseball, softball, and football fields, and a cafeteria are located on the Twiggs Academy Campus.

Academics

Twiggs Academy places a premium on quality education and student safety. Most Twiggs Academy graduates go on to further their education at the university level.

A student from Twiggs Academy has won the county Star Student Award since the award began. Because the Star Student Award is awarded to the student with the highest SAT score in the county, this demonstrates the quality of education at Twiggs Academy is superior to the public school in the county.
