, Victoria, Australia. The group is run by Ed Bailey, who directs the productions and plays keyboard as part of the band.

The 2009 production marked the group's 30th year. Apart from one play, The Hobbit, in 1981, all plays have been written by Australians, including 10 by parents and friends in the group.

Recent Productions

The most recent Track Youth Theatre production was the 2010 production of Cleopatra by Ed Bailey. The play tells the story of Julius Ceaser, Mark Anthony, and Cleopatra, as well as many other characters. However, it is presented as a comedy rather than the traditional tragedy style.
On Friday 19 August 2011 the group will premiere Sleeping Beauty.

History

Track Youth Theatre originated from the amateur theatre group Toorak Players in 1980, as the Toorak Players Children's Workshop. Its first performance was a production of Sleeping Beauty, which they performed at the Pumpkin Theatre in Richmond

Stephen Curry, an Australian comedian and actor, attributes his career path to the group - "The moment I commenced with the group in 1985, I knew I would never be the same."
