Club history

The club was founded in 1997 through the amalgamation of Eden AFC (founded 1947) and Mount Roskill AFC (founded 1954). In 1994, Eden had merged with YMCA Grafton, a club with an illustrious history. YMCA Grafton was founded in 1985 as a merger between Grafton Rovers and Auckland YMCA, the latter of these teams having been a major team in the early days of organised football in Auckland. Whilst both clubs had teams at all levels, it was felt that combining the strength of Eden’s large Junior and Youth base of players and Mt Roskill’s successful senior programme and better club and ground facilities, we would create a club second to none in New Zealand. The results have exceeded expectations, the club has become very popular with membership increasing every year.

Today TKU is the largest football club within New Zealand and possibly the largest sporting club in the country. It is the club's continuing goal to provide football to any person wishing to be involved.
