 dance competition and reality show for professional level dancers. The Battle premiered on March 27, 2011 with a Top 20 rating. In it's fourth week, The Battle's first Live show rose to a season high #14 rating. In The Netherlands the show airs on the Dutch television network RTL 5.  (So You Think You Can Dance, X Factor, Holland's Got Talent, My Name Is Michael) serves as Head of Jury and is also the Creator and Executive Producer.

During the ten week competition, five world class Choreographers (Isabelle Beernaert, Koen Browers, Laurent Flament, Roemjana de Haan, Shaker and Rinus Sprong), along with their hand-picked teams of professional dancers, battle on the dance floor. The performance challenges include different dance genres, including hip hop, modern, ballet, ballroom, etc. Each week, viewer votes determine which two teams will compete in a sudden death battle and Karaty decides which team survives to compete in the next round.

The professional status of the dancers and an increased focus on behind-the-scenes drama make The Battle very different from Karaty's other successful dance-themed program So You Think You Can Dance

On May 29, 2011, Isabelle Beernaert and her team won the first season championship and 50.000 Euro. The winning choreographer received 25.000 Euro and each dancer on the winning team earned 5.000 Euro.
