History and intention

The project was begun as a prospective work for the BBC

 that would "musically describe and cover the unique history of East Sussex" according to the composer. When the project did not proceed, the composer continued "without any specific commission" and created a work which he says is "a humble 'homage' to this wonderful part of the world."

Critical response

Rob Alderson wrote that this is "an ambitious undertaking" and that it "succeeds in conveying the fascinating blend of proud past and rapidly evolving present which makes this corner of East Sussex so extraordinary – and which has fired Polo's imagination."
Keith Ames wrote: “Piatti’s compositional work is very romantic. This latest album is a superb instrumental study of East Sussex and its coastline and serves as a great introduction to his work."
