n beachside suburb of Crescent Bay (a fictional place). The programme revolves around five young girls who are part of a club in which they sleepover at each others' houses at least once a week. The book and the TV series are different to each other.

The Girls names are Francesca "Frankie" Thomas, Rosie Cartwright, Felicity "Fliss" Sidebothem (later Proudlove), Lyndsey "Lyndz" Collins and Laura "Kenny" McKenzie. Their rivals are two girls in their class named "Emily Hughes" and "Emily Berryman", also known as "The M&Ms" or "The Gruesome Twosome". They usually try to embarrass the Sleepover Club, get them into trouble, or ruin their plans and fun.

About the characters

  • Francesca Thomas- She is the "unofficial leader" of the team, has a tendency to be bossy, and longs to be an actress. She and Kenny are best friends. She is brilliant at English, and is an only child, so in some ways, she is used to getting what she wants, until her little sister, Izzy, is born in "Happy New Year, Sleepover Club".

  • Laura "Kenny" McKenzie - she is the athletic one, she loves to run and play football. She is involved in all sorts of after school sports clubs. She always tries to "get one over" the "dreaded M&Ms". Kenny shares a room with her older sister, Molly "The Monster" (as the girls always call her).Molly is eleven, a year older than Kenny, and usually calls the Sleepover Club "you kids".

  • Felicity "Fliss" Proudlove - Fliss is a very girly girl and is always up to date in the latest fashions, she also has an obsessive crush over 'Ryan Scott'. She is described as "blonde and petite", and does ballet after school. She loves weddings, romance and teddy bears. She is often frightened by the ghost stories the rest of the Club like to tell, and hates being in trouble, but can sometimes come up with great ideas.

  • Lyndsey Collins - Lyndz is a horse-obsessed animal lover with 'a heart of pure marshmallow'.She is the peace maker and has four brothers. She does riding after school, and once the Sleepover Club accused her of picking "ponies over friends", however, as usual, they all made up.

  • Rosie Cartwright- She is the newest member of the club and she has brother called Adam who has cerebral palsy. The rest of the Sleepover Club describe her as having "a great sense of humour" but being a bit "prickly". She lives with her mother, her sister Tiffany (or "Tiff") and her brother, Adam. Her dad is a builder. He bought a big house, but then abandonned it, and Rosie is often embarrassed by the state of it. Her dad always promises to fix things, but then goes away on holiday with his girlfriend. The rest of the Sleepover Club sometimes describe him as "Holiday King".
