It is one of three comprehensive schools in Fareham, and had around 1000 pupils at the last count. It has a rich sporting tradition, especially in field hockey

, and has adequate sports facilities, including an astroturf pitch and a gym. The school is named after the iron pioneer, Henry Cort

Environment

The college is set within a 33 acres (133,546.4 m²) site, with views over the Meon Valley and the Solent. It boasts facilities that include eleven ICT suites, new seminar rooms, a fantastic library, sports fields with a state of drainage and community changing rooms.

Subjects and after school activities

The college likes to think they are good at every subject. They mostly excel in subjects such as Music, English, PE and Science. Every subject has its own computer room which is used successfully by all students. The annual area cross country tournament is held here as Henry Cort has the best facilities. There is also a Henry Cort Concert band which performs in feeder schools every year as well as performing in other places in the south. This year Henry Cort have entered a group of year 9 students to do their Science GCSE early. They took their first Biology paper on the 14th January 2010. The exam was successful with many of them getting A's.
For the first time this year. Henry Cort has taken part in BBC School Report. This involves students age 11-14 making their own news programme. They find and gather information then film and edit the story. They even met Sally Taylor at BBC South.
