The mayor of Sylvania is Craig Stough. Sylvania has a city council made up of seven members. The president of Sylvania City Council is Keith Haddad. The remaining members of council are Mary J. Westphal, V. Michael Brown, Katie Cappellini, Doug Haynam, Mark Luetke, and Todd Milner.

Recreation

Most of Sylvania's recreational activities take place thorough the Sylvania Department of Recreation (Sylvania Rec.) They have a building with 2 ice skating rinks and 2 indoor soccer fields. The rec offer sports such as; soccer, baseball, lacrosse, Ice Hockey, and Ice skating. The Rec. partners with Pascetter Park to play sports. Also the baseball fields at Veterans Memorial Park are utilized by the Rec.

Sylvania Country Club offers competitive swimming for children 18 and under. The S.C.C. Sea Lions have been the premier swim program in northwest Ohio for decades, eclipsing many of its competitors, including J.C.C. and G.T.A.C.
