Sverre Marstrander was a Norwegian professor in archaeology.

 in 1968. At the same time he became the manager of Oldsaksamlingen, the antiquities collection at the University of Oslo, and was in the position until 1980.

His most important studies was the research of the Norwegian rock carvings
