Summit Township is bordered by Sweden Township to the north, Ulysses and West Branch Townships to the east, Wharton Township
to the east and south, and Sylvania and Homer Townships to the west.

living together, 4.4% had a female householder with no husband present, and 20.0% were non-families. 17.8% of all households were made up of individuals and 6.7% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.49 and the average family size was 2.81.
In the township the population was spread out with 19.6% under the age of 18, 6.3% from 18 to 24, 22.3% from 25 to 44, 39.3% from 45 to 64, and 12.5% who were 65 years of age or older.
