Department of Management

Part of the wider Strathclyde Business School, the Department of Management started a one-year full-time MBA (Master of Business Administration) in the UK in 1966. The school went on to offer the first part time MBA and distance learning MBA in the UK in 1976 and 1983 respectively. The school was also the first UK provider of the DBA (Doctor of Business Administration).

Strathclyde is one of only 40 business schools in the world to hold international accreditation from all three industry hallmarks of excellence - AMBA, AACSB and EQUIS.

The Department of Management has 10 established international centres, in Europe, the Gulf and South East Asia, where the MBA is available, with the first centre opening in 1988.

The Department of Management also offers the MSc in Business and Management (MBM), a one-year postgraduate programme. The MBM has become one of the first programmes in the world to be recommended for PEMM (Pre Experience Masters Degrees in General Management)accreditation as launched by AMBA in March 2005.

Another course offered by the Department of Management is the MSc in Business Information Technology Systems (BITS) programme. The Department of Management also offers a range of executive development programmes.

FT MBA Ranking

The Strathclyde MBA has been ranked 30th in the top 100 full time MBA programmes in the world as compiled by the Financial Times (published January 28). Strathclyde's MBA programme was one of just 15 UK programmes to be ranked in the top 100 with Strathclyde taking joint 7th position in the UK and 13th in Europe. In addition, it is the top programme in Scotland according to the 2010 rankings. In 2011 Strathclyde Business School's Financial Times Rankings dropped to an all time low of 74th causing much consternation among its alumni and existing students and putting into question the straightjacket of its relentless pursual of its triple accreditation.
