History

The stone home was constructed in 1854 by David Sisson, an iron and textile manufacturer. The house became an inn in the early 20th century and was remodeled along with the 1880 barn to serve for social functions.http://www2.sec.state.ri.us/omfiling/pdffiles/minutes/182/2007/9751.pdf

. Many green technologies have been incorporated into the Stone House. The heating and cooling systems rely on geothermal technology, and 100 percent of the lighting comes from solar panels.

Today

The Stone House has two restaurants, 1854, which is located in the old tap room and serves modern comfort food, and Pietra, meaning stone in Italian. Pietra serves Tuscan inspired cuisine with a local flair. Chef Paul Wade, is an eight generation Mayflower descendant and embraces locally grown ingredients. All food for the restaurants comes from within a 25 mile radius of the property. The Stone House also boasts a full service spa, which is truly unique.
