Education and early career

McPartland is the former Director of Membership for British American Business, the leading US Chamber of Commerce, based in London. He is a trustee of The Living Room, a local charity offering a wide range of free addiction treatment services and a volunteer speaker for Asthma UK.

McPartland studied for his first degree in History at the University of Liverpool, graduating in 1997.
He studied for a MSc in Technology Management at Liverpool John Moores University the following year.

In August 2010, Stephen McPartland launched the Campaign for a Radiotherapy Unit at Lister Hospital with the local newspaper.

Personal life

McPartland is married to Emma, a primary school teacher, who is committed to playing a full part in his role as local MP for Stevenage. He is an avid reader and Stevenage F.C. and Liverpool F.C. fan
