Based in Milan, the studio focuses largely on the design of buildings and open spaces for European urban areas requiring regeneration or redevelopment: intricate situations in which strategic coordination among the various public institutions and stakeholders is incorporated from the outset of the development scenarios. Recently completed projects include the new RCS - Corriere della Sera Headquarters (work is now under way on the remaining buildings of the completion master plan); the completion of recovery work on a tertiary services building within the Bicocca District (Edificio 307); the refurbishment of Milan’s oldest mall; a housing project on the outskirts of Milan; and the 155.000 square meter environmental and tourism restructuring for the Ex Arsenale at La Maddalena, off the northern coast of Sardinia. Current projects include the design for a multifunctional building for the PACA Region on the Marseilles Waterfront (La Villa) and two eco compatible residential towers (il Bosco Verticale) in Milan both scheduled to begin construction at the beginning of 2010; the project for the Milan Policlinic, a large scale renovation of one of the city’s most prominent medical centers; research on new prototypes for social housing; and the design the spaces for the new Italian private train transport company, NTV and the Master plan for a central area in Lodi.
Stefano Boeri Architetti’s projects have been published in various international magazines (2G, Mark Magazine, Icon , A+U, Domus, Lotus International) and exhibited both in Italy and abroad.
