in the early hours of the day. The race will start on Four Mile Beach in Port Douglas when the sun re-emerges from the shadow of the moon at 6:40 am.

2000 runners are allowed to take part in the race which is endorsed by Australian marathoner Steve Moneghetti.

It has been criticised by health professionals as being a high to extreme risk to racers health, due to the expected high temperatures and humidity.
