. He starred and was offered a contract with the ACT Brumbies in the Super 14 competition. Unfortunately for Waqa the ARU refused to register the contract as he had played for Fiji and was deemed an international. Instead he signed for the Sydney Roosters

, but that fell through due to the club experiencing financial difficulties. He then played in Sydney for the 2010 season in the local competition before Craig Bellamy was notified of his availability.

After a three-month trial during the pre-season Waqa was signed to a one-year contract after impressing throughout the trial matches against Canberra and Brisbane. Waqa has been playing in the NSW Cup for Melbourne Storm feeder team Cronulla-Sutherland Sharks who have a joint venture with the Melbourne Storm. On the wing, had a shaky start but has scored 4 tries in two games.
