. From its inception, Sheltering Arms has been committed to rendering medical services to all regardless of their ability to pay. The early mission of the Hospital, to "succor . . . the sick, suffering poor," drew the affections, resources and energies of many concerned citizens, physicians, and nurses into the service of ailing, impoverished Virginians.

Sheltering Arms Physical Rehabilitation Hospital is one of the first inpatient rehabilitation hospitals of its kind in Central Virginia, currently serving from two in-patient locations. We also offer case management services to help you and your family address short- and long-term rehabilitation issues and access community-based resources. Sheltering Arms Physical Rehabilitation Hospital is fully accredited by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO) and the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF).
