. The southern terminus is a junction with Interstate 95 southeast of Petersburg. Interstate 295 then intersects Interstate 64 east of Richmond, crosses I-95 north of Richmond, and continues westward to its other terminus at a second junction with I-64.

Route description

In effect, Interstate 295 serves as a bypass route for both Interstate 64 and Interstate 95 and the via for Interstate 85

Much of the route is now posted at 70 mph. All of the exits are clover leaves with the exceptions of, its northern terminus Interstate 64, Exit 25 VA 895, and its southern terminus Interstate 95.
