In 2003, McNeil moved to Germany's 2nd Bundesliga and signed with EV Duisburg. In 2005, they won promotion to the Deutsche Eishockey Liga. In the 2005/2006 season, McNeil helped his team to stay in the DEL as he contributed 15 goals. However, McNeil decided to join the Kassel Huskies
