. Lucas started out at the age of 14 covering Slayer songs on guitar but later joined percussion classes in High school due to the ease of getting an "A". Lucas became a member of the Gwar side project Mensrea as well as death metal band Wartorn. After opening up for GWAR

 he met All That Remains with whom he kept close contact. He later moved to Massachusetts and joined All That Remains, replacing drummer Michael Bartlett. Lucas appeared in the videos "The Air That I Breathe" and "Tattered on my Sleeve", and soon after, performed with All That Remains at Ozzfest 2006. He quit the band soon after that. He was replaced by Jason Costa.

On March 21, 2007, Shannon Lucas joined the melodic death metal band The Black Dahlia Murder, and has since played on their September 2007 release, Nocturnal
