Moon
The Moon is Earth's only known natural satellite,There are a number of near-Earth asteroids including 3753 Cruithne that are co-orbital with Earth: their orbits bring them close to Earth for periods of time but then alter in the long term . These are quasi-satellites and not true moons. For more...

In the broadest sense, the term impact crater can be applied to any depression, natural or manmade, resulting from the high velocity impact of a projectile with a larger body...

. It lies behind the eastern limb of the Moon, to the east of the crater Espin
Espin (crater)
Espin is a lunar crater that lies on the far side of the Moon, just beyond the northeastern limb. It lies to the west-southwest of the larger crater Seyfert, and northwest of Deutsch....

. Just to the north of Seyfert is the crater Harriot
Harriot (crater)
Harriot is a lunar crater that is located on the far side of the Moon from the Earth. It lies just to the north of the much larger crater Seyfert. To the northeast of Harriot is the crater Cantor. About one and a half crater diameters to the north of Harriot is the eastern end of a crater chain...

and equally close to the south is Polzunov
Polzunov (crater)
Polzunov is a lunar impact crater that is located just to the south-southeast of the larger crater Seyfert, on the far side of the Moon. About one crater diameter to the west-southwest lies Deutsch, and somewhat farther to the south-southeast is Olcott....

.

The outer rim of this crater is slightly elongated to the north, and the northeastern rim is overlain by the satellite crater Seyfert A. This overlapping impact crater has a central ridge on its interior floor. There is a low ridge near the mid-point of Seyfert, but it is less prominent. The inner wall of Seyfert is wider along the northern edge, west of Seyfert A.

Several small craters lie along the rim and interior of Seyfert, including a merged group of small craters along the eastern inner wall, a small crater intruding into the southeastern rim, and a pair of small craters along the southern rim of Seyfert A. The interior floor of Seyfert is relatively level, and is marked by a number of tiny craterlets. Traces of the ray system
Ray system
A ray system comprises radial streaks of fine ejecta thrown out during the formation of an impact crater, looking a bit like many thin spokes coming from the hub of a wheel. The rays can extend for lengths up to several times the diameter of their originating crater, and are often accompanied by...

Giordano Bruno (crater)
Giordano Bruno is a 22 km lunar impact crater on the far side of the Moon, just beyond the northeastern limb. At this location it lies in an area that can be viewed during a favorable libration, although at such times the area is viewed from the side and not much detail can be seen...

Satellite craters

By convention these features are identified on lunar maps by placing the letter on the side of the crater mid-point that is closest to Seyfert.
