The School is named after Sheth Chimanlal Nagindas, father of Shree Indumatiben who were Education Minister of India in 1968 and founder of this school.

The school was selected as a multipurpose school for fine arts under the Government of India scheme.
Students at early age are encouraged to learn personal discipline and responsibility to the society. The school is based on Gandhian values and require students to wear Khadi clothes as their uniform. Children in all classes are encouraged to sweep and clean their own classrooms and mingle with fellow-students from diverse socio-economic backgrounds.
The school is one of the top school in state of Gujarat that consistently ranks high in topping state exams. Apart from exams, the school encourages "sarvangi vikas", that is, an all-round development of a student's personality through different cultural and sports activities within its huge campus.
