As of August 2011, work is currently well underway on carefully restoring the station to its former glory and re-open it in (spring 2012) to serve the heritage line itself as part of the extension towards Northallerton

It is expected that restoration work on the station will be completed by (and re-open Scruton station in) Spring 2012. Plus a run-round loop could be constructed trains to run-round and as a siding out of harms way.
