Software Division

SaskTel International’s software division offers operational support system (OSS) software to telecommunications providers and companies utilizing communication networks.

History

SaskTel International was established to market expertise in advanced telecommunications technologies, particularly fibre optic systems, to clients around the world. Since its conception in 1986, SaskTel International has conducted business in over 30 countries in 6 different continents. Some of these countries include the Philippines, Tanzania, Mozambique, Mexico, England, United States, Canada, India, and Australia.
Among its achievements, SaskTel International’s ICT division is recognized for its role in developing networks and communications infrastructure in regions such as Europe, Asia, and Africa. Some of these projects include:
  • 1990-1994: The design, system and management audit, as well as the installation and commissioning of telecommunications and control systems, for the English Channel Tunnel project. Within the project, SaskTel International developed the communications system that helped connect England and France.
  • 2002: SaskTel International was awarded a contract by the Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA) to develop a telecommunications project in rural India.
  • 2004: SaskTel International announced a contract to complete a rural network infrastructure project in Mozambique, including upgrading and implementing service to over 175,000 square kilometers of the African country.
  • 2004: SaskTel International announced a new infrastructure project for Tanzania Telecommunications Company Limited (TTCL) and a contract to conduct a comprehensive assessment of rural telecom infrastructure in Ukraine. SaskTel was also formally recognized by the Government of Canada for its ongoing work with telecommunications projects in developing countries.
  • 2007: SaskTel International was awarded a 3-year management contract to manage all aspects of the operations, maintenance and expansion of the Tanzania Telecommunications Company in Africa.
  • SaskTel International also played an active role in the deployment of 1,500 kilometers of fibre optics in the South China Sea.
