Surrounding area

Higashine is located in the central part of Yamagata Prefecture, in the Murayama Basin. The city counts as neighbors, Sendai City to the east and Yamagata City to the south and Tendo City. Higasine slso abounds with its nature rich garden and hot springs. Three national highways; routes 13, 48 and 287 also pass nearby. The Yamagata Bullet train Sakuranbo-Higashine Station and the Yamagata Airport are strategically located as well, facilitating the traffic for high technology industries within the prefecture, making Higashine a major industrial center.

The eastern view from the station affords a dramatic panorama of snow capped mountains.
