, and main city of Ghaziabad. Collectively within the district it constitutes a part of the [National Capital Region (India)|Delhi NCR].

In the old days the name SAHIBABAD was coined for Village Sahibabad (now a semi-urban) area which lies tucked adjacent to the Railway Line, Link Road Flyover and Madan Mohan Malviya Marg.

Government planning mainly by agencies of the UP Govt,GDA, Awas Vikas, and UPSIDC have led to the improvisation of the area as a viable business, home, and occupational option.

In administrative records there are primarily few areas which bear the name Sahibabad:
  • Post Office- at Shyam Park Extension
  • Railway Station- on GT Road
  • Village- on Link Road adjacent to railway line
  • Industrial Area- Site-IV (comprising everything that lies opposite Vasundhara, Vaishali and Kaushambi).

Residential

Growth has been in clusters and factors which have contributed to the occupancy of Sahibabad have been-
  • Employment potential in the vicinity
  • Relatively cheaper residential land rates
  • Connectivity with Noida, Delhi and Ghaziabad
  • Availability of essential amenities

Growth in early 80s

GDA started approving colonies as plots and selling constructed units at these areas-
  • Having access to the Ghazipur Road (Ramprastha, Surya Nagar, Brij Vihar, Chander Nagar)
  • Having access to the GT Road (Lajpat Nagar, Rajendra Nagar- Sectors 2, 3, 5)

A handful of developers started developing residential areas primarily in the vicinity of GT Road and Wazirabad Road (Shyam Park- Main, Extension; Naveen Park; Radhey Shyam Park; Janak Puri; Shalimar Garden- Main, Extension-I, Extension-II) as well as industrial estates (IE s) (Rajendra Nagar IE, Anand IE and Prakash IE.

Growth in early 90s

As there were no areas large enough adjacent to the GT Road, the focus of the authorities became centric to areas being beyond Mohan Nagar which remained under developed so far.

New areas were renamed/created after acquiring land from rural as well as semi-urban establishments naming them to be Vasundhra, Vaishali, Indirapuram

have been a boon for the area. The infrastructure for own vehicles on the main roads is as comparable to the best in India, and public transport is rapidly improving.

. Commuters have to take road vehicles to reach Vaishali (U.P.) and Delhi Border at Dilshad Garden to begin their journey for the Delhi Metro. Further, two brand new stations within Sahibabad have opened namely at Kaushambi and Vaishali.

Bus

Sahibabad does not have a sub-city operated bus service of its own and the private run buses are interconnecting it while going to-and-fro the Delhi-Ghaziabad-Noida routes. Inter State Buses are available either at Mohan Nagar/Sahibabad Bus Depot or at the new area adjacent to Pacific Mall at Site-IV/Kaushambi.

Cabs

Apart from a few of the radio cab operators from Delhi, Sahibabad does not have a formal cab system and commuters rely on the Vikrams for their public commute back home. Off late Auto Rickshaws have become more popular and easily available in the suburb. Especially since the Ghaziabad Traffic Police opened a Pre-paid Counter for hiring Auto Rickshaws at Maharajpur Border (the UP side of Anand Vihar ISBT)

Rail

The area has only one railway station named Sahibabad RS, carrying Indian Railways station code SBB. Its used mainly by residents along the GT Road as the areas near to NH24 Bypass and the linking road Madan Mohan Malviya Marg are at a reasonably good distance. A large segment uses the EMU rail for daily commuting to Delhi and Meerut.
