. The game is trivia-based, and is intended as a non-intimidating alternative to SAT test preparation. Incorporating fun and competition, the educational game addresses all tested categories: math, critical reading, and multiple-choice writing, but does not include the essay writing component. The game relies on the premise that group study is more effective than studying alone and that family involvement in college preparation and planning is conducive to success. The SAT Game for Dummies, as with the rest of the For Dummies books and products, is not literally for dummies.

History

The SAT Game for Dummies was created in 2007 by BE Innovative Group Inc. in a licensing agreement with John Wiley & Sons

Publishing. Before this agreement, BE produced a board game called "Test Prep U: S.A.T. Game." This game was replaced by the SAT Game for Dummies. Prior to 2007, options for test preparation materials were largely limited to study guides and practice tests. In 2008, it won the National Parenting Center Seal of Approval.

Style and Gameplay

The game is designed in consistent fashion with the rest of the "...For Dummies" line, using the distinctive yellow and black, featuring the triangular-headed cartoon figure known as "Dummies Man", and applying the informal, hand-writing style logo. The game offers solutions to math questions and uses classic For Dummies style simple and direct prose. As with the For Dummies books, icons are scattered throughout, offering tips, tricks, and warnings to help guide the learning process.
