RightScale was co-founded by Thorsten von Eicken, a former tenured professor of computer science at Cornell University who left academia to manage systems architecture for Expertcity, the startup SaaS company that became Citrix Online. He was joined by RightScale CEO Michael Crandell, who speaks and writes frequently on the subject of cloud computing and cloud computing management.
