Hughes was the Eurobasket All-French Pro A Player of the Year in 2004. He also played in the French Pro A All-Star game the same year. The next season, he moved to Teramo in the Italian Serie A league. He started the season strong, but had some problems with his Achilles tendon and returned to the USA to fully recover. He played for Murcia (2005-06) in the Spanish LEB to show he was back in good shape.
