History

Redbank Plains State High began operations in January 1987 with a staff of 20 teachers under the leadership of Principal Mrs Bernadette O’Rourke. Twelve classes of Year 8 students (380) began the year.

The school has developed a strong culture of success in academia, sport, performing arts, visual arts and hospitality, as well a Gateway to the Aerospace Industries Schooling program.

Redbank Plains currently has approximately 1400 students in the school. Llew Paulger is currently the principal of the school. Redbank Plains SHS is well known in the Ipswich region for its sheer student population.
