History

Former Design Partner and Senior Design Architect (respectively) at Quadrangle Architects, Rom Colthoff and Witt laid the foundations for raw design while processing designs for the acclaimed Cube Lofts condo project in Toronto

The company officially launched in November, 2007, celebrating their launch party the following summer with a raw-themed event in a rearranged office workspace. raw has since undertaken a number of developments in the commercial and residential market. One of the company's prominent initiatives is their contribution to the concept of Main Streets.
A significant amount of raw's projects involve the unification of commercial retail storefronts and above-ground residential space in this manner.

Current projects

  • Ironstone: Burlington - 16 storey, 210 suite residential building. Operating on geothermal energy, augmented by rooftop solar panels along with a green roof. In practice with Davies Smith Developers. Projected occupancy Fall 2010.
  • Cube Lofts - Condominium Development in Toronto's Little Italy. High-end suites unique to one another which sold out in two hours. Developer: Neilas.
  • Stage East - Condominium Project at Queen and Leslieville in Toronto with retail space. Features include a green roof, glazed corridors and a building auto share. Developer: Neilas. Projected Occupancy Fall 2009.
  • Lang Tannery - 350000 sq ft (32,516.1 m²) Historic property in downtown Kitchener

    school of pharmacy. Proposed to be "a home for technology, life sciences, and creative resources to share ideas and space; and feed off one another’s innovation." The building is being renovated to provide accessibility to new tenants. It is schemed to provide solutions to "People like designers, lawyers or accountants -- people who want funky office space, people who have interesting retail space."
